Can you move my existing WordPress website to Fern Web?
Yes. I can move your existing WordPress website from your current hosting company to Fern Web and take care of the technical details involved in the migration. I’ll make sure the website is transferred properly and working correctly on the new server before the move is considered complete.
How much does it cost to move my WordPress website?
For a standard WordPress website, there is no charge for the website migration when you move your hosting to Fern Web. If your website has unusual technical requirements or there are problems with the existing site that need to be resolved first, I’ll discuss that with you before any work is done.
Will my website or email go down during the move?
The goal is to make the transition with little or no interruption to your website. I coordinate the website transfer, testing and DNS changes so the existing site can remain available while the new hosting is being prepared. If your email is also affected by the hosting change, I’ll review that with you before the move so nothing is changed unexpectedly.
Do I have to redesign my website when I move it?
No. If your existing website is working well and still represents your business properly, I can simply move it to Fern Web hosting. There is no reason to rebuild a website just because you are changing hosting companies.
If your website is outdated, difficult to maintain or no longer doing what you need it to do, we can discuss improvements or a redesign separately.
Can you redesign my website while moving it to Fern Web hosting?
Yes. A hosting move can be a good opportunity to look at the website itself. If your current site is outdated, performing poorly or needs significant changes, I can redesign or rebuild it in WordPress and host the new website on Fern Web at the same time.
In some cases, combining the website redevelopment with the move can be more practical than transferring an old website and rebuilding it later.
What happens after my website has been moved?
Once your website is on Fern Web hosting, I continue to look after the technical environment behind it. That includes server hosting, WordPress and plugin updates, PHP updates, security and ongoing maintenance.
You also have someone you can contact directly when you need help with the website, rather than having to work through a large hosting company’s support system.
What if my current hosting company is difficult to deal with?
That is something I have dealt with many times. If you have access to your WordPress website, hosting account, domain name or other necessary information, I can determine what is required to move the site and help you through the process.
